Christmas 2002

Christmas 2002. This is the last day I can say that I’m “in my 20’s”, or that I’m a “twenty-something.” In a desperate attempt to retain any sense of what it is to be a typical middle-class American male in his late 20’s, I spent a considerable amout of time at Circuit City (this was about 5:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve, mind you) looking for last minute DVD gifts for my girlfriend where I got sucked into the video game section and emerged with a new gamepad and Madden 2003. This is something I had put off successfully for a long time, because I know (and so does the girlfriend) that video games could be the end of me. At least I didn’t come out of there with a Playstation 2. But I do already have plans to upgrade my video card, and maybe splurge on Grand Theft Auto. Oh, well, what the heck. I am still at the upper end of their demographic. What was I supposed to do, resist forever? Happy Holidays, y’all.
