Bring Stern Back!
It’s been tough dragging myself out of bed in the morning for the last couple weeks knowing that Howard Stern won’t be on the morning airwaves anywhere near Grand Rapids, MI. It’s nice to know the local radio stations care enough to tell their listeners (advertisers’ customers, for crying out loud) what is going on. After repeated emails and phone calls, I talked to no one and learned nothing. Just endless voicemail loops. A friend of mine actually got through to a low-level secretary who claimed they were having “satellite problems”. Turns out that was a lie because the program coordinator was quoted days later in the paper saying they were in the middle of “contract negotioations” for the show. Yeah, we’ll see. Bastards.
Stern has been a morning ritual of mine since 1996. I listen(ed) to Stern in the morning and NPR in the afternoon. I’m a walking oxymoron. The fact that I even reside in Grand Rapids Michigan (a bastion of Midwestern conservatism which is certainly diverse, but I feel harbors a quiet disdain for anything not white and from Northern Europe, or with anyone who doesn’t think John Calvin was a genius) supports that argument…I am not a member of the majority of people here. Have you ever been called a heathen, or been told you’re going to hell? Hey, why don’t you plan a trip to sunny, friendly Hudsonville for the privilege. Gotta love those tolerant rural West Michigan folk. Ugh.
Guess I got off on a tangent there. Just worked up over the loss of Stern and the fact my PC crapped out on me this weekend, so no web stuff got done. My original point was: see if I ever listen to that evil radio station again. Unless Stern is back.
