Do web jobs never end?
Is it possible that web jobs never end? I’m building three sites at my current job, and I feel like Sisyphus. The more pixels I push, the more there ARE to push, and it seems like it will never end.
Today I was uploading some graphics I prepped (thousands of them) for the sites and I noticed that some of their creation dates were as early as March. 2002. That’s last year. Ten months ago.
Maybe it is too much for one person to do the front end (make it all look pretty), middle end (write the web applications/scripting), and back end (set up and maintain the database that holds the info for the thousands of products, and customers, and orders, and passwords, etc., etc.), as well as create the content (writing any text/fluff) for three, possibly four sites. I spent ALL DAY optimizing graphics. And that even after recording Photoshop actions to take care of 90% of the boring repetitiveness. And it sucks when your progress is so slow that it makes you dread Wednesday mornings. The morning when you have to go to the company meeting and share what you did for the week, which is invariably the same thing week after week. “Well, I’m plugging along.” Those people wanted the websites up ten months ago, and have no idea how much goes into it. I was just warming up.
