Not If I Have My Way

Steve Ballmer, professional a-hole.He is old, ugly, and mean. He resembles Humpty-Dumpty on acid. And he says things that are enormously entertaining. Even though I could care less what happens to this guy and his band of henchmen, I almost wish he had a blog so I could get my fill every day (anyone know if he does?). This may be old news to some of you, but I just ran across this quote from Steve Ballmer, chief dunderhead at Microsoft:

We won the desktop. We won the server. We will win the Web. We will move fast, we will get there. We will win the Web.

That statement is funny to me. I use a Mac. I use NeoOffice, NOT Microsoft Office. I like Apache, as far as servers go. I use Firefox and Safari to look at the web, which is not, and never will be, won by Microsoft. I go through my working day, and Microsoft practically has nothing to do with it, from start to finish, as far as I’m concerned.

It’s interesting to note that he thinks there is something here to be “won.” Well, fatty fatty two-by-four, if it really does come down to winning or losing something here, I will make sure I am on whatever team you aren’t, and I will win you.

oh well, just let him live on in his dreamworld out there in redmond. although we are currently seeing developments for the web platform from microsoft, they’ve been treating it with less interest. even as a fellow mac user (although not msoffice-free), i would say that the microsoft developers (maybe not mr. ballmer) are doing a decent job and will be gaining ground on yahoo! and google soon. but winning is a different story. i also don’t get what he means by “we won the server”. as far as i remember the statistics, at least in the web server sector, apache is more widely used.
