Web Design or Dentist’s Office?
My musical taste is what some have called “strange”. I prefer “enlightened”. I like experimental noise stuff, garage rock, and just plain weird noises of the kind Brian Turner plays on his WFMU show. I don’t listen to the regular radio and I swear to you I don’t know, and probably couldn’t identify a single Coldplay song.
I’ve been siting here working since 8 am, (ok, 8:30, you got me, but hey - I’m working for myself now) and I just realized that I’ve been listening to the same thing all day: Spa 73.
Even though Howard Stern is on vacation this week, I turned on my Sirius radio anyway and rather than putting it on my ususal music channel 25 (Little Steven’s Underground Garage), I put it on Spa 73, which is music you’d hear in a dentist office or a…spa. And I like it. I got a load of stuff done today, and I didn’t think once about my music selection. It’s soothing, and just stays in the background. Yes, they play Enya and Yanni, but who cares. I can’t tell when one song ends and another begins. Could be the same dude noodling around on a synthesizer all day - it doesn’t matter.
In a way, this fits in with my musical taste, I guess, because it sounds just like any other music group you’ve never heard of that I probably have in my iTunes library. Now when someone asks me what I listen to (A question I generally can’t stand, because I usually sigh and think, “Where do I begin? This person will never get it”) I can rattle off “Lightning Bolt, Deerhoof, Reigning Sound, almost anyone on the Estrus label, Spa 73, The Mummies, you know…” (etc etc) and it just sort of fits right in.
Yea, I can feel you on that one. Sometimes music can be distracting. I will be trying to get stuff done and next thing you know im fiddling with winamp trying to find a decent song in my library.

Hi there,
First of all, my apologies that I posted my question here, but your comments on the Ajax-rating were closed (for a good reason I bet), but I had a question about it and didn’t know where to put it.
Second: that ajax-rating looks incredibly slick!
But there’s only one catch I’m afraid… I can’t figure out where to put it or how to implement it in my site (Wordpress 2.0). I did read the readme-file, but couldn’t quite understand what/how to use the information there.
Could you please make a noob-explanation for us fanatics with a lack of webskills please?
With kind regards,
Joram Oudenaarde

Joram, I’m planning on putting up a new AJAX rater page with comments so people can help one another rather than emailing me for tech support. That page will probably be at my other site, masugadesign.com, which I’m not quite finished working on.
I also have grand plans to make a plugin for wordpress, to make it easy to insert a rater anywhere in your posts or pages.

Oh wow, that’s more then I hoped for!
Well, I’ll be checking up on your other website then. Sorry to bother you for tech-support though
Thanks for the reply!

No problem. I’m hoping to launch my other website today. I wish I could help everyone out with their problems getting the script to work, but there’s more requests than I can reasonably handle. Thanks for stopping by!
